Brigel Gjoka

Brigel Gjoka is a Franco-Albanian choreographer, pedagogue, and performer. He has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Sylvie Guillem and William Forsythe. Trained at the Ballet School of Tirana and the Rosella Hightower School in Cannes, he pursued
a professional career with companies including the Ballet of the Opéra National du Rhin, Staatstheater Mainz and Nederlands Dans Theater. 

In January 2011, he joined The Forsythe Company. Over more than a decade of close collaboration with William Forsythe, he toured internationally and became one of his key artistic collaborators. As a choreographer, Brigel’s work has been supported and presented by institutions and festivals such as Sadler’s Wells, PACT Zollverein, Théâtre de Chaillot, Biennale de la Danse and Maison de la Danse in Lyon, the Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival, the Sydney Dance Festival, Torinodanza, Xie Xin Dance Theater, Maggio Fiorentino, Theater Vorpommern, Kwang Tung Dance Company, Tonino Lamborghini & Leggere Strutture and NAPA Karachi, with additional support from the Goethe-Institut. From 2014 to 2020, he directed Art Factory International Bologna, focusing on the development of young artists and choreographic research. Brigel has performed and toured internationally at major theatres and festivals and has been a faculty member, teaching workshops worldwide, including for the Tokyo Ballet, The Juilliard School, Biennale College Danza Venice, Royal Danish Summer Intensive, CND Paris and Lyon and the University of Lausanne, among others.

He is currently touring with Friends of Forsythe. He has recently begun work on new commissions for the International Dance Festival of Tirana, and for Theater Hagen, with a premiere scheduled for 2026/2027. Brigel Gjoka founded his company, Dynamo Kid, in 2025.
