In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival presents Age of Content by the collective (LA)HORDE with the Ballet national de Marseille in collaboration with Brooklyn Academy of Music. Dance Reflections also supports the next two creations of the collective.
(LA)HORDE was formed in 2013 by artists Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel, and has directed the Ballet National de Marseille since 2019.
Through films and performances, (LA)HORDE examines dance's political dimensions, mapping choreographic forms of uprising, whether isolated or en masse, from raves to traditional dances and even jumpstyle. As they explored emerging dynamics of representing and circulating dances online, the artists developed the concept of "post-internet dances."
Working across multiple mediums, (LA)HORDE explores the internet's near-limitless possibilities and presents diverse perspectives on communities with whom the artists collaborate as equal partners. In the year following Room With A View, created with composer Rone, they invited four choreographers to work with the Ballet National de Marseille: Lucinda Childs, Tânia Carvalho, Lasseindra Ninja and Oona Doherty, each bringing a distinctive, inclusive and politically engaged choreographic language. In 2022, they presented Roommates, where multiple contemporary languages collided in six pieces by Peeping Tom, Lucinda Childs, Cecilia Bengolea and François Chaignaud, Claude Brumachon and Benjamin Lamarche and (LA)HORDE. The same year also saw the dance exhibition We Should Have Never Walked on the Moon, which blended cinematic and avant-garde choreographic registers. In 2023, they created Age of Content, their latest large-scale choreographic work for the Ballet National de Marseille.
