In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting Chaillot – Théâtre National de la Danse for the presentation of May B by Maguy Marin.

Born in Toulouse in 1951, Maguy Marin began her training at Mudra, Maurice Béjart's multidisciplinary school in Brussels. She then became a soloist with the Ballet du XXe Siècle, under the Béjart's direction. With Daniel Ambush, in 1978 she founded the Ballet Théâtre de l'Arche, which became the Compagnie Maguy Marin in 1984. Her creative work gained international recognition when she was awarded a prize at the Concours Chorégraphique International de Bagnolet in 1978.

In the early 1980s, she quickly became a leading figure in Nouvelle Danse Française (New French Dance), notably with her emblematic piece May B in 1981 and her famous contemporary rendition of Cendrillon.

She became director of the Centre Chorégraphique National de Créteil et du Val-de-Marne in 1985, then headed the Centre Chorégraphique National de Rillieux-la-Pape from 1998 to 2011. After these intense years, she decided to return to work within an independent company.

She set up her company at Ramdam, giving rise to ambitious new projects, including RAMDAM, a Center for the Arts. Since then, the company has continued to evolve, developing its work in the non-dance domain. To date, it has produced some forty pieces.

Maguy Marin is one of few non-American artists to have received the American Dance Festival Award. In 2008, she won a Bessie Award in New York for her show Unwelt, presented at The Joyce Theater. In June 2016, the Venice Biennale awarded her a Golden Lion in recognition of her entire artistic career.
