In 2024, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the French Embassy in Japan Award - Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels for young choreographers, presented at the Yokohama Dance Collection Festival. The 2024 laureate is Moe Kobayashi.
A black belt in karate, Moe Kobayashi began the sport at the age of five and drew inspiration from it when she started dancing at 13, creating chroeographies that combine the martial arts and dance. While pursuing a sports science degree at Daito Bunka University, from which she graduated in 2019, she also studied contemporary dance with Teruyo Mawatari and Satoshi Ishibuchi. In this period, the duet odd fish was formed. It presented its work in Japan and abroad, receiving numerous awards.
In 2021, she won the Architanz Artist Support Award at the Yokohama Dance Collection Competition II. Invited to perform in South Korea at the Duo Dance Festival in 2022 and at the Buddhism dance festival in 2023, she won first prize at both festivals. In 2024, she won the French Embassy in Japan Award - Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels for young choreographers at the Yokohama Dance Collection Competition I. She also collaborates as a dancer on projects for the opera, music videos and concerts while hoping to develop her own future projects within Europe.
