Les Temps Tiraillés

In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archéologie de Besançon for the presentation of Les Temps Tiraillés by Myriam Gourfink.
In 2009, Les Temps Tiraillés proposed that the rapid pace of technological progress could be a vector for collective sharing. This "communalist" ideal, in vogue among the alternative "punk and noise" communities at the time, has today been overtaken by consumerism.
The choreographic score and part of the set of Les Temps Tiraillés are on display at the Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archeologie de Besançon, reusing as much of the original 2009 technology as possible.
In Les Temps Tiraillés, the choreographer, on stage with the performers, writes the choreographic score in real time, reflecting her perception of the show as it unfolds. Despite having studied potential arrangements, the dancers do not know what they will perform until they see the movements broadcast on on-stage screens. In this piece, the dancers and the choreographer explore the idea that interpreting the dance score brings a creature into being. The title of the performance, Les Temps Tiraillés, highlights the friction between the rapid tempo of dance writing on the technologically-equipped stage and the deliberately drawn-out time of the dance itself, sparking an extreme sensory experience through choreography.
