In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting François Chaignaud, Nina Laisné and Nadia Larcher for the creation of Último helecho and its presentation at the Biennale de la danse de Lyon, the Festival d'Automne à Paris, the Théâtre de la Ville and the Berliner Festspiele.
A strange rocky formation sets the scene: this show is about a journey— historical, fantastical and, crucially, underground. The origins of Último Helecho lie in the vivacity of Argentinian and Peruvian folklore, in the music and dances that contain the traces of indigenous peoples oppressed by colonization. Born of the collaboration between artists Nina Laisné, François Chaignaud and Nadia Larcher, a performative duet, both sung and danced and augmented by six traditional instrumentalists, delves into the strata of this memory. Their path crosses that of the Baroque repertoire, deeply embedded in rhythms, songs, melodies and gestures. In contemplating these relics, they awaken telluric power, metamorphosis and transcendence. Beneath the earth, in its mineral entrails, the possibility of a dialogue between eras and continents arises. A place beyond reality where dreams, the unforeseen and illusion can spring up at any moment.
