UNTITLED (ROMANCE FOR ROCKEFELLER CENTER)
Pam Tanowitz
In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is presenting Pam Tanowitz's Untitled (Romance for Rockefeller Center) as part of the event Spring is blooming at Rockefeller Center.
Untitled (Romance for Rockefeller Center) is a site-specific work created using old and new material from Tanowitz's choreographic vocabulary. The dance will explore both decorative and practical movements, releasing them from the comfort of convention and habit and forcing them into this new space.
Pam Tanowitz throws a net over material from sources as varied as 19 th century ballet, early modern dance, American jazz and the movement of pedestrians. An abiding and persistent love is the vocabulary clipped from ballets of the modern era. All of these can be recognized and relished in Tanowitz’s new forms as she fashions them into objects and makes them her own, transformed into a formal resolution.
