In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting Chaillot – Théâtre National de la Danse for the presentation of Tenir le temps by Rachid Ouramdane performed by the Ballet de l'Opéra de Tunis.
In Tenir le temps, created in 2015, Rachid Ouramdane presents a choreographic piece for 16 dancers centered on the notions of group, collective movement and synchronization. The choreographer explores crowd dynamics and the way individuals live together in a common space, between harmony and tension. Repetition, shifts and furtive or insistent interactions create a continuous, hypnotic flow, in which each gesture seems to respond to a discreet urgency: to hold together despite the dissonance.
With no explicit narrative, Tenir le temps reads like a metaphor for the contemporary world, where individuals constantly adapt, cross paths, brush past and sometimes ignore each other. The pervasive, pulsating electronic music acts as a subterranean force that structures movement and provokes a collective trance.
At once anonymous and singular, the dancers make up a living material in perpetual transformation. They portray a world where fragility is constant while beauty emerges from shared movement.
